Discusses The Sperm Donation Process
Sometimes patients need to use a sperm donor in order to successfully conceive.
Why Sperm Donation
Donated sperm are used in a number of scenarios. For example, a heterosexual couple may choose sperm donation when the male partner does not produce any or enough viable sperm. In another scenario, a single woman may want to become pregnant without a partner and can opt to use a sperm donor. Also, lesbian couples can use donated sperm to become parents. The donated sperm are used to fertilize eggs via IUI (intrauterine insemination) or IVF (in vitro fertilization).
Sperm Donation Options
There are two options for sperm donation: known and anonymous sperm. Known sperm is sperm donated from a friend, whereas anonymous sperm is sperm from someone a couple does not know that comes from a sperm bank (cryobank). Either way, we help guide couples when using a sperm donor is the best path to successfully becoming pregnant.
